Virtual Automotive Electrics Trainer For Electrical Lab Training.
Operation of the Vehicle For Electrical Lab Training
Students can switch on the ignition and start the engine. They can
change between park, first and second gear and use the accelerator and
brake pedals to drive the vehicle.
Whilst driving, the trip computer displays various statistics
including average speed, average and instantaneous economy,
distance traveled and distance to empty.
The fuel and temperature gauges update along with the tachometer
and speedometer dials. Exterior lights can be switched on and off and
headlights can be toggled between dipped and full beam.
Oil pressure, fuel level and brake fluid level can all be modified and
the supplemental restraint system can also be investigated.
Electrical Circuit Investigation
A multimeter is included which can be used to measure voltages
and resistances of connections at various points within the circuitry of
the vehicle. The readings will update based on the operation of the
vehicle, for example when the lights are switched on or off.
Fault Insertion
Nine faults can be inserted into the vehicle to provide fault finding
activities for students. When a fault is inserted the
multimeter readings will update along with any
visual change to the vehicle. For example an open circuit main beam lamp
will not illuminate and will give an open circuit resistance reading.
