Pressure

have a surge chamber to trap pressure surges caused by a change in the
flow speed of the water. Pipe systems must, in turn, be so designed that
the pressure surges occurring there (caused, e.g., by the sudden
closing of a valve) can be survived without damage. Pressure surges can
