Solid-Liquid Extraction- Engineering Lab Training Systems.
Technical Description
The Solid-Liquid
Extraction allows a soluble component of a solid mixture to be
extracted. In continuous three-stage mode, pure solvent (water) is
delivered from a tank to the nozzle of the first extraction stage where
it is distributed over the extraction material. The solvent seeps
through the extraction material, takes up the soluble components and
passes into the collecting segment. From here, the enriched solvent is
delivered to the nozzle of the next stage. After passing through the
last stage, the solvent charged with the extracted component is
collected in the extract tank. The extraction material (potassium
bicarbonate with special carrier material) is continuously fed into the
cells of the rotating extractor by a feed mechanism. The extraction
material and solvent move in countercurrent and the depleted extraction
residue falls into a tank after one rotation of the extractor.
Valves can be used to switch to 1 or 2-stage continuous mode. Discontinuous mode is possible with the carousel stopped.
Three pumps are available for delivering the solvent, their speed can be individually adjusted for each stage.
The
solvent temperature at each level is adjusted by a PID controller and
displayed. Each stage is equipped with conductivity sensors to monitor
the
separation process. Relevant experimental parameters are recorded by
sensors, displayed digitally and can be processed onto a PC.
The
well-structured instructional material sets out the technological
fundamentals and provides a step-by-step guide through the measurements
and experiments.
