Snow Gauge- Engineering Lab Training Systems.
It consists of a 60 cm deep collector having an read of 500 cm2
mounted inside an Alter pattern wind shield one meter in diameter. The
gauge with its shield is installed on stand support so that the orifice
of the collector is at a height of 1.5 cm. above the ground when
installed on a concrete platform rising 10 cm. from ground level. Solid
precipitation collected in the gauge is melted and the precipitation in
millimeters is measured using the measure glasses. It is based on
ISI specification No. 6806-1973.
