Multi-Cell Ageing Oven For Testing Lab Workshop.
Multi-Cell Ageing Oven -
Accelerated ageing test is conducted on polymers to evaluate their
resistance to deterioration with the passage of time. For this purpose
the test specimen is subjected to controlled deteriorating influences at
elevated temperatures for definite periods, after which the effect of
such influences on their properties are determined and compared against
the corresponding properties of un-aged polymers. One of the apparatus
used for this purpose is the multi-cell ageing oven.
The Multi-Cell Ageing Oven is
designed to carry out accelerated aging on polymers by subjecting them
to deterioration by controlled circulation of air at an elevated
temperature under atmospheric pressure. It consists of an aluminum block
having seven holes of 100 mm diameter, each hole representing a cell.
The test specimens are freely suspended inside these cells on wire
suspenders for aging.
The block is heated with the help
of cartridge electric heaters placed in it. Its temperature is
controlled with the help of a digital temperature
controller-cum-indicator. The block is placed inside a sheet metal
cabinet and is surrounded with mineral wool for providing it thermal
insulation.
