Large Flow Channel- Engineering Lab Training Systems.
Technical Description
The Large Flow Channel is designed
for a variety of experiments in the area of open flumes such as, for
example, weirs, overflows, locks, oceanography and off-shore technology
(including experiments on waves, measures for coastal protection such as
dikes or beach simulations).
The is currently the largest flow
channel in this G.U.N.T. product range. It reaches an experimental
length of 16m. The side panels are made of hardened glass to permit a
virtually unobstructed view. The water supply is provided by several
tanks. These are connected into the system such that they can also be
used as a walkway so that the user can reach every part of the measured
section. As soon as the tanks are connected together and to the channel
itself, they provide an adequate water supply that, once filled, is
independent of the local water mains. The inlet, outlet and tank are
made of GFRP to combine high strength and a long service life with low
weight. Because the unit can be set up anywhere, its suitability to
specific local conditions is guaranteed.
Key components in the basic
unit include the specially designed inlet area that creates a
homogeneous flow, a centrifugal pump for creating the water circuit, a
motorised shut-off flap for adjusting the flow rate, a
magnetic-inductive flow meter and motorised inclination adjustment that
is used to compensate for flow losses or to simulate a natural gradient.
With a flow rate from approx. 330m³/h, at maximum cross-section a flow
speed of approx. 0.2m/s is achieved. Fluid Mechanics Lab Equipments manufacturers
