Inclined Plane Flammability Tester For Testing Lab Workshop.
Inclined Plane Flammability Tester - For Testing Lab
Flammability Tester of textile materials may be determined by various
methods. One of the methods used for determination of flammability of
textile materials is the inclined plane flammability test.
In
this method, a test specimen taken from the sample under test is held in
a sheet metal holder at an inclination of 45°. A flame from a standard
jet is made to impinge on the upper face of the textile material near
its bottom edge and the time taken for it to propagate through a
distance of 127 mm determined to evaluate the flammability of textile
material sample under test.
The Inclined Plane Flammability Tester for
textile materials consists of a specimen rack for mounting the test
specimen holder, a specimen holder in which the test specimens are held
for conducting the test, arrangement to enable a standardized flame to
impinge on the test specimen, and a timer to record the time taken by
the flame to propagate through a distance of 127 mm. The various
components are mounted inside a draught proof stainless steel sheet
enclosure.
The specimen rack provides support for the
holders in which the specimens are mounted. Its angle of inclination is
45°. The rack can be moved sideways to enable textile materials of
different thickness to be set at the specified distance from the tip of
the jet with the help of an adjusting screw. A built-in finger is
provided to gauge this distance for setting it to the desired value.
