Heat Transfer at Pipe Walls- Engineering Lab Training Systems.
Technical Description
The characteristic properties
of the heat transfer in turbulent flow in a pipe heat exchanger are
demonstrated using this unit. It is possible to demonstrate both
parallel and counterflow operation. The non-linear temperature
distribution along a heat exchanger can be demonstrated by measuring
temperatures at the inlet, outlet and halfway along the pipe. During
this process the water temperature in the inner and outer pipes are
measured. An additional measurement of the pipe wall temperature on the
inner pipe enables the heat transfer at the wall to be investigated in
detail. During the experiment, key parameters such as heat transfer
rate, heat transfer coefficient and heat loss are determined. The
components for the unit are clearly laid out on a panel so that the
function of the heat exchanger is easy to follow visually. The system is
designed to be set up on a table.
A supply of cooling water is required.
