Earthing Connection Tester For Electrical Lab Training.
Earthing Connection Tester - For Electrical Lab Training
In all electrical appliances where there exists a likelihood of any
accessible metal part becoming live in the event of any insulation
fault, adequate provision has to be made to connect such parts
permanently and reliably to an earthing terminal or termination within
the appliances, or to the earthing contact of the appliance inlet. Any
such connection shall be robust enough to bear a likely short circuit
current without getting damaged or burnt out. Also, the resistance of
such earthing paths shall also be within a specified limit.
The Earthing Connection Tester
has an arrangement to give a specified high current at a low voltage
and an ammeter to measure the current and a voltmeter to measure the
voltage drop in the earthing path, thus enabling determination of its
resistance. It consists of a variac to give a variable voltage, a step
down transformer to provide the specified current at a low voltage, an
ammeter to indicate the current passing through the earthing path, and a
voltmeter to indicate the voltage drop in the earthing path.
